Google Chrome overtakes Firefox in browser market share
Now second to Microsoft's Internet Explorer

Google Chrome has stormed past Mozilla Firefox to become the second most widely used web browser last month, after Internet Explorer.
StatCounter, a research firm, reports that Chrome managed to bag a 25.68 per cent market shar,e compared to 25.33 per cent share registered by Firefox. The topper of the charts was, as always, Microsoft Internet Explorer with 40.63 per cent share, reports BGR.
Aodjan Cullen, StatCounter's CEO said, "Our stats measure actual browser usage, not downloads, so while Chrome has been highly effective in ensuring downloads our stats show that people are actually using it to access the web also."
"We can look forward to a fascinating battle between Microsoft and Google as the pace of growth of Chrome suggests that it will become a real rival to Internet Explorer globally", he said in a report by The Inquirer.
Chrome has been registering a steady upwards trend since 2009, when it garnered only a five per cent share. Firefox use has declined over the last year, and with Google's browser being updated on a much more regular basis, Mozilla may struggle to keep up with Chrome's progress.
All eyes will be watching to see if Chrome can give Internet Explorer a nudge in near future.
