Alien Arena

COR Entertainment has just released the 2008 version of its freeware game Alien Arena, a fast-paced deathmatch shooter.
Unsurprisingly titled Alien Arena 2008, this latest incarnation offers an updated graphics engine that runs more smoothly and boasts an added layer of visual frills, with fresh player models, lighting and weapon effects. Various tweaks have been made to the gameplay, too, with the developer balancing the weapons more equally and adding new dodge moves.
Alien Arena's overall theme has moved in a darker, more modern sci-fi direction, and there are seventeen new levels to immerse yourself in. The game will run on both Windows and Linux, with a Mac port to be released in the very near future.
It's not much of a risk to try it, given that Alien Arena 2008 is free, so check out the web site for the download.
