More Savage

S2 Games has just released a sizeable free content update for its online 3D shooter and real-time strategy hybrid, Savage 2.
The big introductions are a new Hellbourne unit (that grows in size as it devours corpses), two extra maps produced by members of the Savage community, and something called level armour progression. What the latter means is that as a player levels up during a game, their armour and weapons become fancier looking, so opponents will cower in fear of them (either that or try to take them down a peg or two).
Other minor changes include an unofficial server list for practice games, a revised and more thorough tutorial, and fuller support for clans (for example, it's now possible to reserve game servers for matches). There are also the usual bug fixes, along with balance tweaks for the two opposing armies and refinements to the sound effects.
A Linux client for Savage 2 is also now available. If you haven't yet played the game, check out the Web site where you can sign up for a free trial.
