Samsung to join micro-MP3 player melee

Sandisk's Clip recently followed Apple and Creative into the micro-sized MP3 player market, and the burgeoning success of these tiny, affordable players has lured another big player into the mix.

We're having trouble finding many details about the new Samsung player, though that's probably because there isn't really a lot to it. What we do know is that it'll start at 1GB capacity, should have a battery life of around 10 hours and offer WMA and MP3 playback.

Perhaps a decision based partly on the recent success of the Zen Stone, Samsung is allegedly dubbing its alternative the ‘Pebble', being available in a range of colours and closely resembling those glossy little stones you get in day spas and piled into coloured glass bowls in women's bathrooms.

We're not expecting anything ground-breaking upon its release in May, but it should at least offer an aesthetic alternative and we can see it being a popular choice for the fairer sex.
