Double the power with the GeForce 9800GX2

Albatron had a having-your-cake-and-eating-moment at CeBIT with its GeForce 9800GX2. Although Nvidia won't release this product until later in March, Albatron had a 9800GX2 on show and e-mailed photos to every IT journo on the planet.
In essence the 9800GX2 is a pair of GeForce 8800 GTS cards bolted together piggyback-style so they are permanently linked in SLI to deliver storming performance. It's a similar idea to the Radeon HD 3870 X2 which links two 3870 chips in CrossFire except that the red solution uses a single length PCB.
The 9800GX2 is a double-slot design that has two power connectors (one six-pin and one eight-pin) and in the Albatron version it has dual DVI outputs as well as an HDMI port, however we doubt that this graphics card will be used in the average Media Centre PC.
