At the recent Focus on Imaging exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, Epson put in an appearance at the Master Photographers Association's stand to launch Gemini 4. No, not a rocket, but effectively a complete professional photo lab incorporating powerful image enhancing and digital workflow tools.
Gemini 4 is far more than just a printer as the package includes a choice of large format printers, a server, powerful colour management and image manipulation software, workflow software, a touch-screen for ease of operation, plus an Eye One monitor calibrator for accurate colour display, and a cabinet.
Utilising Epson's Micro Piezo print head technology and UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta ink, plus superior media handling and compatibility with a wide range of media - up to 1.5mm thickness including glossy, matt and fine art paper - Gemini 4 aims to provide consistent, high quality monochrome and colour prints.
Epson also lays on installation, initial training, on-going technical telephone support and service back-up. Ink and media is supplied free of charge, as any prints produced are charged on a ‘pay per click' basis the following month, assisting with the business' cashflow.
This package will be landing in a retail outlet near you in April.
