Budget Educational Software group test review
slightly dated National Curriculum title
Review date: 15 December, 2006. Review by: IT Reviews Staff
Both follow a tried and tested formula of offering a selection of well broken-down activities for small-sized computer users, with clear graphics, simple explanations and a reasonable, if hardly staggering, amount to do.
The software itself is getting on a bit, but it's good at what it does and will suitably entertain its target audience of four to six year-old Thomas fans. The Great Festival Adventure sometimes betrays signs of its age, especially with its jagged visuals, but it's the best of the titles across the two packs according to our young test subject.
At first it was a little frustrating, as it seemed activities went on just a little too long, but the software cleverly evolves what it asks of the user, and due to the nature of the characters it's packed with, the youngster we got using it didn't even notice.
